The Aftermath of Irene...
Quick update:
I do hope all of you are OK and didn't experience too much damage from Irene. Seems we got off fairly lightly compared to some. I was about to list a home on Lakes Rd Suffern, but decided to hold off until after Irene's departure. Sadly, the home was totally destroyed by the Ramapo River and we hope and pray that their flood insurance, combined with FEMA funds will replace what the Carey family has lost.
My own home on Piermont Avenue, Piermont, nearly made it, but the high tide, combined with the tidal surge sent a mini tsunami racing across the Tappan Zee Marina and into our house. The drains backed up and that's not a pretty site. Even stuffing the "Loo" with blankets and standing on it couldn't stem the flow of effluent that we are now dealing with. Clean-up is going well, and my computers are all back up and running again. Thanks everyone, most especially to my clients Abbi and Mike Dunlap, who came over on Sunday with much appreciated lunch supplies, and to Steve Moins (yet another local client) who rescued us Sunday evening. After letting us all shower he fed us a spectacular Persian dinner washed down with copious amounts of red wine. After being up for over 36 hours straight we all fell into an exhausted sleep and were thrilled to wake up to such glorious weather yesterday.
If anyone still is without electricity and needs a generator, we have one. And if anyone has a spare de-humidifier, we would love to borrow one to help us dry out!
Cheers! Vanessa & Family
